All House Matters

Joan Hodgson was my first inspiration to proceed deeply into the study of astrology. She directed the astrology part of The White Eagle Lodge until her death. She wrote a correspondence course for beginners and an advanced course which came with a diploma. As a post-graduate in the real world I would say that these two courses represent a university degree and would take about 3 years to complete. White Eagle is/was Source energy for whom her mother, Grace Cooke was the medium. Inevitably Joan’s approach to astrology was soul based.

So I was continuing my thought on the 9th house and, as a former school teacher, thinking about how to present more on the 12 houses of the astrological wheel. I like to make things simple if possible which is a challenge with a subject as complex and manifold as astrology. Joan Hodgson, in her Beginners’ Course underlined each initial description of the signs with a tag which is helpful when thinking about how to interpret the energy which is playing out in each of our personal ‘houses’ or areas of life. These short definitions are really about the sun’s role in each sign, but can also be helpful when used as the way into an understanding of the energy on the cusp of each house, the cusp is the first line, the beginning of each house – which will have one of the 30 degrees of one of the signs at this position.

We all have all the signs of the zodiac in our birth chart somewhere – with this understanding comes meaning. (Or not.)

On whichever cusp we have the sign of Aries we have some of the energy concerned with:

Love in action

On whichever cusp we have the sign of Taurus we have some of the energy concerned with:

Service through love

On whichever cusp we have the sign of Gemini we have some of the energy concerned with:

Brotherhood through wisdom

On whichever cusp we have the sign of Cancer we have some of the energy concerned with:

Peace in action

On whichever cusp we have the sign of Leo we have some of the energy concerned with:

Love through love 😉

On whichever cusp we have the sign of Virgo we have some of the energy concerned with:

Service through wisdom

On whichever cusp we have the sign of Libra we have some of the energy concerned with:

Brotherhood in action

On whichever cusp we have the sign of Scorpio we have some of the energy concerned with:

Peace through love

On whichever cusp we have the sign of Sagittarius we have some of the energy concerned with:

Love through wisdom

On whichever cusp we have the sign of Capricorn we have some of the energy concerned with:

Service in action

On whichever cusp we have the sign of Aquarius we have some of the energy concerned with:

Brotherhood through love

On whichever cusp we have the sign of Pisces we have some of the energy concerned with:

Peace through wisdom

Very briefly and incompletely:

The 1st house is about ‘I am’; the opposite 7th house is about ‘you are’

2nd – I have; 8th – you have – we have

3rd – I think; 9th – I know

4th – I am rooted; 10th – I offer to everyone

5th – I enjoy….; 11th – I enjoy with everyone

6th – I do something…. ; 12th – I am everything

Or, another summary might go like this:

The planets are the WHAT; the signs the WHERE; and the houses the HOW.

The last six houses tend to operate on a wider and more general scale than those of the first six:

1st house = the personal self; 7th = the public

2nd = one’s own property; 8th = money of others associated with native

3rd = exchanging information, routine; 9th = long and explorative journeys of mind or body

4th = home, security; 10th = vocation and visible personal standing

5th = pleasures (always limited); 11th = ideals (infinite)

6th = personal health; 12th = challenges through others

The last 6 nearly always involve other people.

Final summary:

First 3 – 1) one’s self and immediate approach to life; 2) personal wealth; 3) personal way of relating to those in immediate environment.

Next 3 – relationships based on family as signified in 4th); 5) fruit of family, creative ability coming from firm foundation; 6) jobs necessary to support family and social connections related to family.

Next 3 – based on social relationships, foundations in marriage or business as seen in 7th); 8) shares fruit of those relationships and reveals potential for gain; 9) reveals understanding of underlying concepts of society and ensuing goals.

Last 3 – most impersonal as involve merging of individual’s efforts into collective of humanity based on 10th which shows social contribution and position; 11) fruits of endeavours based on group involvements; 12) areas of personal life needing refinement so that energy contained there may be purified for use by forces of creativity.

The internet will produce hundreds of explanations. There are many roads to the centre. But, Esther, only dead fish swim downstream……

…..which is my link in to one reasonable approach, using astrology, for believer or non-believer alike, to the Abraham material – or any material for that matter.

Forget that Esther Hicks believes herself to be a channel for Abraham and simply evaluate the information on its own merit, or better said use what helps and disregard the rest. It is interesting to consider the hook for it all. The hook is the apparent miracle of what Esther purports to do: to bring forth what is known in mainstream parlance as, God. But A-H mentioned, I think on the cruise in March this year, that Esther and Jerry especially did not want to develop a group whereby everyone was developing their energy and alignment by association with each other rather than with their own Source energy – which is what tends to happen in organised religious groups quite a lot – and especially in a road showesque, filmed and recorded environment like the A-H seminars. Yet in astrology the 11th house of groups develops into the 12th house of spirituality, the oceanic end of all rivers.

In all the above we see the energies in Esther’s birth chart speaking (note – no birth-time is known so it’s an x-rated chart). In her 10th house she has Pluto, Mars and Saturn in Leo which produces an absolute insistence on issuing forth on the subject of divine love (at best) from a public position. Had she not found Abraham, she would have had to do something to satisfy this energy in another way. Esther’s sun is in Pisces – need I say more on that? If the strong Jupiter (original ruler of Pisces) is in the second house of ‘identity’ and self-esteem, Esther simply must be the mouthpiece for ‘God’, it is a compulsion, as she identifies with it in some personal way: it’s a Jupiter in Sag. thing. They all do it to some extent these lovely Jupiter in Saggies. Add to this the very pleasant and sociable Ascendant/Descendant with Venus at both ends, by sign and planet and it really does not matter whether you believe in channelling or not, for Esther is really and truly in very colourful terms what has come to be known as Abraham: they are one.

Dismantled to this extent it only remains to decide whether to listen or not; to read it or not. It is not the big deal and spectacle that the Leo actor part of Esther’s character likes to create: the stage show, the here I am, look at me show. That is the nature of all performers. We love performers – most of us – at least sometimes. The big deal part is a pleasant ‘illusion’ for everyone’s entertainment. The reality part is the information.

Perhaps the performance is used to be a distraction from the typical church format. Maybe, but the group, the disciples, the followers will always act in association with their kind. This is the A-H creation; Esther’s Pisces sun is in the 5th house of creativity resonating loudly with the performing Leo planets in the 10th.
